WELCOME to Mykonos-2014

This website should contain everything you need to know to enjoy yourselves at our wedding the 30th of May 2014 in Mykonos, Greece.....

Getting There:

There are two ways of getting to Mykonos:

1.Aer Lingus fly Dublin to Athens on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only. From Athens it's a 15 minute taxi ride to the Piraeus the larger ferry port. It's about a 40 minute taxi ride to Rafina the smaller ferry port. Ferries take from between 2-4 hours depending on price. As far as I am aware ferries from Piraeus will take longer as they stop at more islands on the way. From Rafina you can get a ferry direct to Mykonos.

2.Easy Jet fly to Mykonos directly. Easy Jet fly out of London, Berlin and Manchester airports to name a few. Ryanair connect with most of the airports. Use skyscanner to find the best combination.

Both the airport and the port are very close (5-10minutes) to Mykonos town.  The whole island is very small. It takes 30 minutes to drive from one end to the other. There are however very few taxi's so this is not a reliable way of getting around. Cars, quads and mopeds can be rented relatively inexpensively. There is also a bus service which travels regularly from the town centre to all of the beaches.

Staying There:

There are two hotels which are beside each other which Zain and I are recommending for accomadation. Venecia boutique hotel is a 4 star very small hotel a 5 minute walk from the town. Damianos hotel is a 2 star hotel thats around the corner from the Venecia boutique hotel.

The rooms in the Venecia boutique hotel start from 135€ including breakfast. In a lot of hotels in Mykonos the rates will go up on the 1st of June. So from the 1st the rooms in Venecia boutique hotel will start from 165€. this is the discounted rate so if you wish to stay here book via email Stella Michael is my contact and let her know that you are part of the wedding. There is also one budget room in the hotel which is 90€ but this room is not available on the 1st and 2nd of June. The rooms in Damianos hotel start from 65€ and as far as I am aware should not change in June. Breakfats is also included. There are plenty of beautiful hotels in Mykonos so you really can't go wrong. Wee've chosen these as they fit most budgets and have received good reviews.

Mykonos Town is also known as chora. The streets are a complete maze, apparently so the pirates couldn't find their way back to their ships. On these winding streets is where you'll find shops, boutiques, art galleries, cafes,  bars and restaurants. Mykonos is always windy and in May it will be cool so bring warmer clothes for the evenings.

Agios Ioannis is one of the nicest beaches. It  is famous as the location for the movie "Shirley Valentine". Hippie fish is located here for all lovers of sushi its a must.

Spilia restaraunt is somehwere that was recommended to me. The restaurant is completely in a cave and the food is supposed to be great too.

Panormos beach bar on Panormas beach seems like a really cool place to hang out for the day. With bean bags on the sand, this is the ultimate chill out bar.
