The Covid 19 pandemic is contineously changing:
We currently encourage telephone consultations for both Private & public patients. This service is free for medical card patients and is at a reduced price of €40 for Private patients. If the Doctor feels you need further investigations you will be asked to come into the Surgery.
However, we currently still operate our walk-in clinic for patients who display no covid symptoms and Urgently need to be seen by one of our Doctors. Patients are encouraged not to put off Urgent problems, however, routine issues which can be dealt with effectively over the phone should be done so.
Safety is of utmost importance for staff and patients. We encourage patients visiting the surgery to wear an APPROPRIATE MASK for their own safety.
ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2020 WE WILL INTRODUCE AN APPOINTMENT BASED SYSTEM FOR OUR AFTERNOON CLINIC, AS PER HSE ADVICE.
THE MORNING WALK-IN CLINIC WILL CONTINUE AS NORMAL FROM 8.30-9.30am however, this will be first come first serve, and a limit on numbers will occur).
The afternoon Clinic will operate from 1pm - 3pm & from 3.30 - 5pm daily (Monday - Friday) BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Current Protocol for Walk-in Clinic:
- Patients are required to register their details at the front office window and should provide the receptionist with a valid telephone number the line must be kept free for the Doctor to call you or you could miss your turn.
- Patients need to confirm to Medical Staff that they do not display any Covid symptoms, i.e. cough, shortness of breath, headache, weakness, temperature (this criteria changes), No family member is Covid positive and has been in contact.
- You have not been in contact with a Covid Positive person,
- You have not travelled abroad within 14 days.
- Patients who have Covid symptoms will have a telephone consult with their Doctor and be referred for appropriate testing, be encouraged to Self isolate for 14 days & talk to their Doctor by telephone.
- To ensure patient safety, patients can no longer wait in the waiting room and are encouraged to wait in their car or in our Courtyard.

WE ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO BOOK A 6 WEEK BABY CHECK APPOINTMENT AT A QUIETER TIME BY APPOINTMENT. This is for the baby' safety.
Ear Syrnging & blood tests should be booked by appointment with our Nurse. There is a charge for this service for medical card & private patients.

GP VISIT SCHEME FOR CHILDREN UNDER SIX
The Hooper Family is participating in the GP Visit scheme for children under the age of six.
As a parent or guardian you must register your child online or download the form and send it to the listed address.

How Do I?
Request a repeat prescription
Prescriptions are no longer available over the telephone. Forms are available in reception. Please allow 48 hours notice for repeat prescriptions. You can fax, email, post or request in person. For over 70's or cocooners, we can healthmail prescriptions to the pharmacy by request. Prescription requests can be emailed to: email@example.com
Patients need to state clearly their name, address & DOB and indicate if they require the prescription to be emailed to a pharmacy. Please note their is a 48 hour notice for prescription requests.
Private prescriptions cost €15.00 and this service is free for GMS patients.
Prepare for my blood test:
If the doctor or nurse request blood tests and they may be fasting or random in nature. Fasting bloods are taken when you have fasted for 14 hours, (you may drink water and take your normal medication. Certain tests have specific instructions, and the nurse or the doctor will explain these to you. Blood tests cost €20 by appointment with the nurse and are €10 for GMS patients.
How do I Get my results
Please allow a minimum of five working days for most routine results. If you have signed a consent form then if your bloods are normal you may receive a text from the Doctor. (once you have signed a consent form) If you have not heard however, please call the Doctor to confirm bloods are normal.
Please allow a minimum of ten working days for your X Ray results to be received in the surgery.
Please contact your consultants secretary for results of tests carried out in the hospital, if you have a follow up appointment with the hospital we generally do not receive your results until after your hospital appointment.
Get the most from my consultation.
A standard consultation lasts 10 minutes. It is useful to bring your medications with you, and you may find it useful to make some notes on your symptoms, before you see the doctor. If you have a long problem list it may be helpful for you to prioritise, and deal with the most urgent problem first, and return to the doctor at a later date, to discuss your other problems.
We may offer you a patient information leaflet or direct you to an appropriate web site to help you further understand your treatment plan. We encourage you to ask questions about your health no matter how embarrassing or insignificant the problem may appear.

TEXT MESSAGING SERVICE: NEW
At Hoopers Medical Centre we are delighted to introduce a new text messaging service. If you have not filled out a Consent for text messaging, kindly do so in Reception. This has proven very efficent for Doctors to confirm normal blood results in a speedy timeframe.
