Trevor Gillespie : Bio
I am a motivated self starter with ample and varied experience of life and business. Having initially studied Business Studies and Marketing, I spent twelve years in the DIY and Lifestyle Retail business. With over 18,000 sq.ft and a separate builders providers yard, I managed up to twenty employees along with managing the sales, purchasing, stock control, marketing and banking.
In 1999 I supervised the sale of the business and became a landlord, as the town centre store location lent itself to convenience shops rather than a large DIY store. During that time I was involved in two successful tourism developments. I purchased, renovated and developed two large rural properties for short and long term holiday stays before selling as going concerns namely Otterholt Riverside Lodge and Lenham Lodge & Stables.
The Delta Sensory Garden Project has become a very successful visitor attraction, as part of the Carlow Garden Trail in the South East of Ireland, along with creating employment for adults with special needs. I was involved as the lead project supervisor from the design stage and along with a very energised team we fundraised and received grant aid to complete the 12 different linked gardens in 3 years.
In 2004, I moved on to Commercial and Residential Property Development as the Irish economy flourished. The Commercial Development, consisting of 11 apartments and 6 retail units in a central down town location continues to flourish and the 2 hi-spec detached residential developments of approximately 50 houses each were 50% developed and sold before the financial and economic collapse in 2008. I was involved in the design, funding and management of these projects with over 100 sub-contractors involved between the 2 sites.
From September to December 2012, I oversaw the successful launch of "Writers Tears" Whiskey in Ontario, Canada working with the local distributor to introduce the brand to hostelries in Toronto. I spent 2013 near Stratford in the UK utilising my experience in sales, marketing, administration and management to develop new opportunities.
I have recently joined forces with a very dynamic team in Oneview Healthcare as a project manager based in Dublin, focussed on exciting patient engagement and wearable medical technology business opportunities in the US, Middle East and Australia.
